FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
As a Registered Nurse, I approach every situation through the framework of the holistic nursing process. This means that I look at the whole picture when coming up with strategies to help you reach your sleep goals. I assess feeding, weight gain, development, their sleep environment, and your parenting style. When we address each piece of the puzzle instead of just one part, that’s how we will find success!
I don’t have a particular ‘method’ that a use for each family. At The Mama Coach we tailor each sleep plan to each individual family. The sleep training method will depend on your child’s age, how they respond to reassurance, and what you are comfortable with as parents. I feel like it is my job to help you decide what would be the best approach to making changes. In general, I like to focus on teaching independent sleep skills and this can be done quickly or slowly depending on your preferences. The amount of crying involved would depend on the pathway you decided to move through along with the goals you have surrounding sleep for your little one. In general, as a lactation consultant and sleep coach I really tend to emphasize developing sleep skills while encouraging active feeds and allowing baby to night wean when ready rather than forcing the elimination of night feedings.
Once you book a time for a consultation you will receive a notification of booking (along with a Zoom link if virtual) as well as an invoice via PayPal. I will connect within the week to send you a questionnaire to fill out so I can prepare for our initial consultation. After our consultation and assessment you will receive a follow up email with a copy of your sleep plan as well as my E-Books that provide information for moving forward! If you decide you would like follow on support we can connect about this after the consultation to decide on the best plan of action for your family.
Ideally in the third trimester, before 36 weeks.
I provide in-home Lactation Support, Sleep Support, Newborn Support, and Private Prenatal Classes in Vancouver, BC. I also see clients virtually for Sleep Coaching, Virtual Feeding Consults, and Live Classes!

Meet Amanda
Welcome and thank you for reaching out! I am so glad you found me and we have the opportunity to connect as parents raising little ones.
I am a mother to two babies in earth and five babies in heaven, the journey has not been easy but boy is it worth it!! I have always LOVED the mother and baby world and worked as a labour and delivery Nurse for eight years before moving in to community work.
The most important thing to me is connection. Parenting these days can be overwhelming, confusing and lack the village mentality. There are so many conflicting messages out there and it is hard to determine what is going to work best for your family. I love to come alongside families in a time of need and help empower you with choice, options and education. There is no “right” way to do this parenting gig and the ultimate goal is finding what suits the needs of your family and helps you all live happy and fulfilled parenting journeys.
