our story

Meet Carrie...

FOUNDER & CEO

The Mama Coach™ Inc. was established in 2015 by Carrie Bruno, Registered Nurse (RN), International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), and Menopause Society Certified Practitioner (MSCP).  For as long as she can remember, Carrie has been passionate about women’s health and children.  This area of focus led her to begin a long career in labour and delivery and postpartum. 

After the birth of her two sons, Carrie switched to permanent night shifts to spend more time with her babies.  What seemed like a wonderful idea actually led to some major sleep deprivation.  Carrie quickly realized her heart was trying, albeit unsuccessfully, to be in two places at the same time.  There had to be a win-win solution, where she could give her whole heart to both of her passions; her two little boys, as well as the women and families she served.

And so, The Mama Coach was born. Carrie’s private nursing practice grew quickly, and she realized the demand for nurses delivering care, support and education to families was needed everywhere.

There was a gap to fill and The Mama Coaches vision to fill it was put into motion. Carrie now proudly shares her brand with a diverse team of Registered Nurses, Nurse Practitioners, Lactation Consultants, and Menopause Society Certified Practitioners across the globe. 

We are not carbon copies of one another — every Mama Coach has a unique life experience and nursing background. The Mama Coach headquarters provides training and ongoing mentorship to support each and every nurse to create their own independent practice within their community. 

Our team shares a passion and commitment to listening to our clients, and in turn providing empathetic, supportive education and care to help women and families along their journey.

Private practice Registered Nurses and Nurse Practitioners are becoming a more common occurrence, and The Mama Coach has set up a unique practice model of care.  Based on assessment, we help women and families meet their goals by providing customized education and support, without the time constraints or added pressures health care systems add.

At The Mama Coach, if a client needs 30 more minutes with us, then that is something we can give.  Mama Coaches are committed to providing comprehensive nursing care and education in unique settings; making a difference, one person or family at a time.  The Mama Coach will continue to learn, grow and provide the utmost care, education, and support to women and families across the globe.

frequently asked QUESTIONS

Good question!  We are called The Mama Coach because years ago, when Carrie’s first boy was very small, she often wondered out loud to herself, “Where is my Mama Coach?” and “I need a Mama Coach!”.  Carrie searched and searched for the kind of support she was looking for, and realized there was a need for qualified support for new families. 

We recognize our name may give the impression we only serve moms; however, we will continue to work and learn to ensure our messaging is clear – all people are welcome here.  Parents carry a heavy load and they do it with grace.   All parents deserve support and The Mama Coach is the answer you’ve been searching for.

We do not just support moms — we help ALL folks.  Everyone is welcome here and we are committed to providing you with quality support, no matter your gender or family dynamic.  As we learned in nursing school, your family is who YOU say they are.

Yes!  As Registered Nurses and Nurse Practitioners, we have years of training on where and how to access credible guidelines and information.  All of our programming is based on extensive research from credible sources and updated frequently.

As Registered Nurses and Nurse Practitioners, it is our professional obligation to manage client records and confidential information properly.  We use a globally compliant Electronic Medical Record (EMR).   

Even though we share the same brand, we are all independent Registered Nurses and Nurse Practitioners with our own private practices.  As such, we each have our own EMR which is private and secure. We do not share EMR or client information between one another without consent.

Often they are — the answer largely depends on where you live and what your private insurance covers.  For example, in Canada, our services are covered under ‘Lactation’, ‘Registered Nurse Services’ or ‘Health Spending Accounts’.  In the United States our services can be covered as well, through HSAs, FSAs and potentially Super billing.  For more information, reach out to your local Mama Coach.
