As your due date approaches and you begin to embark on your motherhood journey you are probably doing a lot of prepping and packing. Research has proven that the more prepared a woman is going into her labour and delivery, the more confident she will feel with her birth process. The preparation also leads to greater empowerment and reduced stress levels in the postpartum period.

The 4th trimester can be somewhat overwhelming and exhausting. A little planning can help set you up for a positive postpartum experience!

Here at The Mama Coach, we are all about support and empowerment to have you feeling prepared for your motherhood journey. Today, I am sharing our new mom hospital survival kit. A checklist of everything you will need to pack with you for when your little one is born.

You don’t have to go overboard and pack the whole house, but it is a good idea to pack the essentials. The hospital/birthing center should provide you with the essentials such as underwear, pads, breast pads, peri bottle, and oral analgesics. Although, depending on where you deliver, supplies may be limited. Yes, that’s right. Some hospitals have to limit the amount of underwear they supply because they are just that comfortable and some want to take a few extra home! Unless told by your practitioner, pack for a one to two-night stay in the hospital.

Some things you may want to have ready at home:

  • Freezer Meals
  • Protein Balls- a quick snack that you can grab on the go as you are feeding babe throughout the day
  • Padsicles
  • Stocked Medicine Cupboard- Ibuprofen, Acetaminophen
