Event Details

Bring your own colostrum to the birth and make sure your baby is getting the benefits of liquid gold!

Your body starts making colostrum after the 20th week of pregnancy. After completing your 36th week and talking to your provider, you can start collecting it to bring with you to the birth. You can supplement your baby with your own milk to potentially have: more consistent blood sugars, less jaundice, and less weight loss. You may be able to give colostrum instead of formula in certain medical situations. You can ease your worries about making enough milk in the first few days. Your baby will get the benefits of good gut health and immunity. As always, discuss with your healthcare provider whether antenatal hand expression is right for you. Contraindicated for moms with placenta previa, preterm labor, cerclage in place, placenta accreta/increta/percreta, and any other uterine or vaginal bleeding condition.
